Woodscape create bespoke FSC hardwood Seats and Seating Steps for Manchester city’s first ‘multi-media’ scheme.

First Street is a compelling blend of culture, leisure, retail and office space located in Manchester city centre. Stretching out over 20 acres of city centre heartland, the scheme is Manchester’s most significant sustainable regeneration development.
Woodscape were awarded the contract from Carillion Construction Services to design, build and install the bespoke street furniture on site, from the initial concept designed by Planit-IE Landscape Architects.
The premium multi-media cultural scheme was the first area in Manchester city centre specifically designed to connect artistic creativity with business and enterprise. The motto of the scheme is ‘Bringing work to life and life to work.’
The layout was specifically created with the wellbeing of workers and visitors to the area in mind. The pleasant environment and sense of community it evokes can also be enjoyed by the pedestrians passing through.
Woodscape’s EVO range of urban street furniture comprises of FSC® certified Naturally Very Durable Hardwood, granite and stainless steel. Eight EVO Seats and matching Seating Steps create a place to rest in the vibrant urban space designed for both shoppers and workers to enjoy. The scheme uses contemporary aesthetics and strong defined lines, which makes it stand out in terms of form and function.
The Seating Steps are a bespoke product created specifically for First Street by Woodscape. They were manufactured in the UK from FSC certified hardwood and granite with a steel substructure and are designed to match the Evo seats to give continuity to the design. The three-tier FSC certified hardwood Seating Steps measure 16.0 linear meters x 1600mm wide.
Woodscape products are manufactured from Naturally Very Durable Hardwood and sourced from sustainable forests as standard. As an FSC certified supplier, we can manufacture our products using FSC certified timber as required.
