Modular Planter Installation

Woodscape Modular Planter

Tools required : Mallet & a block of wood

1. Lay on a level base the first lift of components to desired plan shape and in the final location with the short octagonal horizontal pegs placed as shown below.

2. Place the second and successive lifts over the previous one with joints running alternately in a clockwise and anti-clockwise direction, pegged together as below. Section with “WOODSCAPE” brand to be on top lift.

3. When at the full height ensure all vertical holes line up and then drive in the long octagonal stakes through the corner holes having first checked that the length when driven to the desired depth will be 30mm below the top surface. These lock the complete unit together. Take care not to damage the edges of the hole when driving the stakes below the surface.

4. Fix one angle bracket to each inside corner of the top lift, using screws supplied. Insert the round matched-grain pellets into the visible holes lining up the grain. Tap into place flush with the surface using a mallet or hammer, with a timber block inbetween to avoid marking the component surface.

5. If desired, line the inner vertical surfaces with ICI Terram, or similar, up to soil level. (This is only to prevent washing out of fine soils through joints.)

6. Fill the planter as specified by the Landscape Architect or Horticulturist to within 20mm of the top.

7. No further treatment of the timber is required for durability. The timber will weather to a grey colour over a few years. If the natural colour is to be retained or a darker colour desired, we recommend 1 or more coats of Sadolin Classic or similar low viscosity exterior wood stain which will dry to a matt finish, showing the grain texture. Avoid the denser pigmented treatments which penetrate less and tend to have a treacly sheen which hides the natural quality of the timber and can be scratched through by vandals.

One coat of Sadolin Industrial 94 Mais (or suitable alternative) is supplied at our factory before dispatch which in no way constrains overcoating with most other finishes.

8. Study the information given on the storage advice label displayed on individual components/wrappings.
